Double Glazed Windows are two panes held apart by a bar this creates an air space. Because glass is a good conductor of heat. a single glazed pane does not insulate your house very well enough, by putting two panes seperated by an air space you improve heat insulation. Air is a poor conductor of heat, so it has s superior insulation effect. The gap between the two sheets of glass with air in between reduces the heat conduction between the panes. Therefore it helps keep more heat inside your house during winter and reduces heat from coming in from outside of your house during summer.
